All sins are not the same in their effect on our souls. Some sins are greater than others (Jn. 19:11). One type is eternal (Mk. 3:29), while others are not. Another type of sin is uniquely against our bodies, while others sins are outside our bodies (1 Cor. 6:18). James 4:17 declares that whoever knows to do right but does not do it, to him it is sin. 1 Jn. 5:16 declares there is sin that does not lead to death while there is sin that leads to death. Things like worry (Php. 4:6,7), and not being completely humble and gentle (Eph. 4:2), are not listed in any list of sins that will damn. The death penalty sins certainly will send any person to hell if they die unrepentant, even a person who was once saved. A general list of these sins in the words of Scripture are: idle words....By thy words thou shalt be condemned" (Matt. 12:36-37); evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemies, pride, foolishness, and bearing false witness...."These are the things which defile a man" (Matt. 15:17-20; Mark 7:19-23); uncleanness, lusts, making God a liar, idolatry, vile affections, a reprobate mind, unrighteousness, maliciousness, envy, debate, deceit, malignity, whisperings, backbitings, hating God; being despiteful, proud, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, and unmerciful...."They which commit such things are worthy of death. . . But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things" (Rom. 1:24-32; 2:1,2); being effeminate, sodomites, revilers, and extortioners...."Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?" (1 Cor. 6:9-11); biting and devouring others, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath. strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like...."They which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God" (Gal. 5:15-21); lying, corrupt conversation, bitterness, clamour. evil speaking, and unforgiveness; filthiness, foolish talking, jesting, and being a whoremonger ...... "No whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolator, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God" (Eph. 4:25 - 5:6); resisting the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51); inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, anger-, and malice ......"For which things sake the wrath of God cometh upon the children of disobedience" (Col. 3:5-9); selfishness, being unthankful, unholy, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of good people, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, leading others into sin, faithlessness, and being evil (2 Tim. 3:1-13); brawlers and disobedient, (Titus 3:1-3); having respect of persons (James 2:9-12); DESIRING to be a friend of the world (James 4:4; Luke 17:32,33); living in ungodliness, anarchy, presumption, selfwill, and rebellion (2 Pet. 2:9-22); being lovers of the world and of the things of the world (1 John 2:15-17); dreamers that defile the flesh, sowers of discord, hard speakers, murmurers, complainers, and mockers (Jude 8-19); seducers (Rev. 2:20); devil worshippers, sorcerers (Rev. 9:20-21); fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolators, and all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire" (Rev. 21:8); and taking from and adding to the Word of God (Rev. 22:18-19).
